Statement from Patricia Levesque, Foundation for Florida’s Future Executive Director, on the Senate’s approval of a comprehensive workforce package.
“These bills rightfully align education and training opportunities with higher paying, higher-skilled, in-demand jobs.
“Focusing the state’s workforce system on the job-seeker not only creates more opportunities for students and workers to gain the skills they need but also provides long-term benefits to Florida’s economy.
“We are grateful for the leadership and vision of House Speaker Chris Sprowls and Senate President Wilton Simpson and bill sponsors Senator Ben Albritton, Representative Clay Yarborough and Representative Lauren Melo.”

House Bill 1507 includes strategic proposals to help Florida’s workforce, including promoting workforce training programs based on the opportunity they provide students and workers to earn good wages and a rewarding career.
Additionally, the proposals ensure information is shared with the public so students and workers can make informed decisions on which program best serves their needs.
Especially innovative is a plan to help workers who were laid off, worked fewer hours or were furloughed in recent months. The bill aligns resources and need so Floridians can earn higher-skill, higher wage, in-demand, rapid credentials.
The legislation offers a money-back guarantee to students. If a student completes programs for certain higher-skill and higher-wage, in-demand occupations and is unable to find a job in that field within six months, their tuition is refunded.
