Statement from Patricia Levesque, Executive Director of the Foundation for Florida’s Future, on Governor Ron DeSantis’ proposed 2021-22 budget proposal.
“The pandemic has created historic challenges for schools and families. Governor DeSantis’s proposal reinforces his commitment to students and educators with a strong investment in public schools and teacher pay. The Governor has wisely used federal funds to offset revenue declines due to a slowed economy.
“The way students learn has changed forever and will continue to evolve, requiring more high-quality options where students can thrive. Increased funding for the Gardiner Scholarship for students with special needs, and an increase in funding for public charter school facilities, are steps in that direction. We look forward to working with the Governor and lawmakers to ensure more students have access to all learning options.
“This budget is another demonstration that Florida leaders support both public education and education options for families.”
