The Foundation for Florida’s Future Responds to Senate Passage of House Bill 1361

Patricia Levesque, Executive Director of the Foundation for Florida’s Future issued the following statement in response to the passage of House Bill 1361, which will expand access to learning supports for teachers and students, including a new grant program that will safely bring artificial intelligence (AI) into classrooms.

“We’re pleased to see the Senate pass HB 1361, which will unlock new opportunities to support students and teachers.

“By expanding access to learning supports, including tutoring, and expanding credentialing programs to equip teachers with essential skills, Florida continues to strive toward education excellence, ensuring every student can read and do math on grade level. 

“We are excited to see the Senate support the inclusion of a new grant program to provide districts with access to safe and secure artificial intelligence-enabled education platforms. Florida’s leaders are again demonstrating forward-thinking by wisely and responsibly harnessing AI technology to bolster professional learning for teachers and personalized tutoring for students.

“We applaud the Senate’s unanimous support of this important bill.”

The bill now goes back to the House for additional consideration.
