State policymakers begin the 60-day legislative session today where they will tackle numerous challenges the state is facing.

The tumultuous impact of the pandemic on student learning threatens to leave a generation of students behind and unable to keep up with a rapidly evolving economy.

I believe lawmakers are up to the challenge, and the Foundation for Florida’s Future is ready to help with a broad focus on three goals:

• Student Success – Let’s close learning and opportunity gaps for all students, especially those most at-risk, with robust support for early literacy, resources for low-income students and tools for bridging the digital divide.
• Educational Freedom – Let’s keep expanding options for families, teachers and schools so Florida can continue to lead the nation in educational opportunity and innovation.
• High Quality Pathways – Let’s strengthen Florida’s economy by creating high-quality, education-to-workforce pathways that lead to higher-skill, higher-wage, in-demand jobs.
