Good Start for Plan to Improve Student Success with Strong Career & Technical Education Pathways

Statement from Patricia Levesque, Executive Director for the Foundation for Florida’s Future, on today’s discussion by the State Board of Education

“Florida’s state career and technical education plan is among the strongest we have reviewed from across the nation. It ensures that federal funding for career and technical education supports the state’s goal of having the premier workforce education system in the country, and it makes explicit connections to the strong foundations Florida’s districts have established through long-standing commitment to dual enrollment and industry-recognized credentials.

“The state is off to a good start. Moving forward, we must ensure Florida is focused on the best policies to support all students accessing and completing high-quality pathways that lead to middle- and high-wage, in-demand Florida careers.

“We congratulate Florida’s Department of Education for leading an inclusive process, and we look forward to supporting the agency in implementing this plan over the next four years.”
