My family needed school choice

I was proud to see Gov. Ron DeSantis announce his support for school choice and the 13,000 students on the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship wait list. These families have determined that a private education is the best way for their child to be successful, and their education choices shouldn’t be limited by ZIP code or income.

My husband and I feel the same way, even though we don’t qualify for the program. When my husband, a sergeant major in the U.S. Army, was stationed in Tampa, we began looking at local schools. We settled on a well-regarded public middle school but quickly found out that it wasn’t a good fit for our eldest son.
